This project was an exceptional one.

Jeanette Carr, Director of Senior Programs at OMJCC 1972-1991, invited me to help her to create a piece for what would become the Senior Lounge.

It was 1990 and a new building was under construction. We met in Jeanette's offsite office and managed to design an amazingly detailed piece.

Committed, highly skilled women took sections of the quilt home and worked on them independently, then we put it altogether, including the hand quilting, a technique that is rarely used these days.

As time went on the JCC reconfigured itself once again and there was no more Senior Lounge! The quilt sat in a box for many years.

It’s wonderful to see the piece back up on a wall... hopefully for the long run!
