I didn't fare well during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. I had recently let go of painting on silk due to arthritis in my thumb.Facilitating art with others in person was definitely off limits.

 

Then my dear friend Julie Silver sent me a set of gouache paints. Color. I could manipulate the color— something I had loved to do on silk  but couldn't do with glass. I had a new medium to play with. What joy! 

 

I really wasn’t used to making art for the sake of making art, but eventually I gave myself permission to do so. These pieces-- in simple 12" x 12"" gold or wooden frames -- are representative of the COVID leg of my creative journey— a journey of reclaiming my dormant voice, one I feared I'd lost forever.
